The incident occurred in Hartford County during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 24 at the Stepney Place Apartments on Silas Deanne Highway in Rocky Hill.

According to Sgt. Jeffrey Foss-Rugan of the Rocky Hill Police, when police arrived they found a white sedan in the parking lot and one of the occupants actively breaking the window of a vehicle.

When the suspect spotted police, they jumped in the car and sped away by driving over a grassy area toward Marshal Road at a high rate of speed, Foss-Rugan said.

A pursuit was not initiated due to the crimes being property-related, he added.

Foss-Rugan said an investigation found that 43 vehicles had been burglarized. The majority were locked and the suspects entered by breaking the windows.

The identity of the suspects is not known, Foss-Rugan said. An investigation is underway.

Anyone whose vehicle was broken into is asked to contact Officer Nathan Thomas at 860-258-2057 or by email at nthomas@rockyhillct.gov.
